The time taken by the benzodiazepines is usually between one to two weeks, and has lesser side effects as compared to the anti-depressants. Alprazolam can work faster than the clonazepam, hence, it has stronger withdrawals effect too. According to a survey on these panic attacks, it has been found that 30% of the patients using Alprazolam got better on a dose of 4 to 6 mg per day and 43% of them on a dose less than 4 mg per day, improved after a period of eight weeks.
Alprazolam is faster than the other anti-depressants available. Thus, it is the perfect medication to have just prior to the panic-provoking events.
These are not the only medicines available. There are a number of other medicines available. For example, beta-blockers like atenolol, propanolol, tricyclic antidepressants such as desipramine, imipramine etc, mono amine oxidase inhibitors such as phenelzine, anticonvulsant like Valproate and some mild tranquilizers such as buspirone etc.
A medical practitioner must supervise the intake of the above listed medicines. so, make sure that, they are prescribed by a medical practitioner before taking these medicines.
Thus, we conclude that the panic attacks are curable. Whatever the reason may be: depression, social phobia, or any other reason.
